Help needed with Abner Decker , ILL. Soldier

Family History has it that Abner Decker( Born 1811/13 KY ) returned from war , his wife Elizabeth died either when he was away or recently after he returned . It is also reported that he later married the woman who had nursed him when he was wounded . Eliza Jane Pratt( nee Scranton ), an american Sauk indian . Abner and Elizabeths last child was Abner Decker Jr , born 1847 Woodford co ILL . Elizabeth died that same year . The only war that fits in to this time table is the US mexican war . Any help as to Abner being listed on a roster , would be apprectiated .
