Henderson CHAPPELL (1807-1848) died from disease during Mexican War, June 2, 1848 Cordovia Hospital, Mexico. He was listed as sick March and April 1848 near Jallappia (sic) Mexico. He musterd at Nashville Tn Sept 30, 1847, 3rd Tenn Capt Edward Fowlkes Co K, Lt. Col John W Whitfield and Col B F Cheatham.
Henderson CHAPPELL was 37 years old when he joined, Co K TN Vols, was one of last to leave for Mexico.
Sarah Rigsby CHAPPELL, his widow received $3.50 per month, 30 June 1858. During War Between States, USA cancelled her allotment. About 1871, after many problems proving her loyality, Pension was restored.
