The roster is included in Volume 12 of the Official Roster of Soldiers in Ohio in the War of Rebellion. (Around page 400-500 or so.) I found a place that had just the roster for the Mexican War that included an index some kind soul added. SEVERAL pages are missing from that, so you need the bigger file, too. I downloaded the two as PDF, but I can't remember where I found them. If you send me an email directly at

I can email both as attachments. (I use the index of the shorter file to find the page in the bigger file.)

I did not find a William Ford in the index, but there were two Fords with W as a middle initial. Perhaps William was your ancestor's middle name? I know my ancestors from that time frequently switched the name they went by: sometimes they use their first name, sometimes their middle name.

I would just copy and paste what I found, but the pages are really jpgs. Can't cut and paste from those OR use the find option in adobe.

Let me know!
