Amanda is my 2nd great-grandmother. The letter is from her son Willard Smith to President Joseph F. Smith concerning Amanda's children sealings and President Smith asked Willard to come to SLC and discuss it.
Amanda Barnes Smith married to Warren Smith's!! I am descended through 2nd Warren and their child Sarah Marinda Smith Burnham.
#1 Warren married Amanda on the rebound from a serious romance and fiancee who died several weeks from the wedding. Warren told Amanda that he loved (fiancee whose name I can't remember as I keyboard this) whole body more than he loved Amanda's little finger! However, Warren did support & care for Amanda and their family. After #1 Warren's death at Haun's Mill, Amanda was living in SLC & the temple there was "up & running". Amanda chose not to be "sealed" to her 2nd husband, Warren #2-since he had abandoned the family and took off for the northwest with a new romance (to shorten the story). Amanda made her choice to be sealed to and as she says in her history "left it up to the children as to whom they should be sealed to" and that is what led to the letter from Willard Smith, son of Warren #1 & Amanda.
Curious to know if you are a descendent o& what your interest in this story is. Gladys Boice
