Obituary: The Progress, Vol. 24, No. 38, Fillmore, Millard County, Utah, Friday, 17 Sep 1915, p. 1, BURBANK:

It is with sorrow that we note the death of Mrs. E. D. Garrison who died in Calexico, California Sept. 2, 1915, and was born near Buffalo, N. Y., February 13th, 1833. She attended school in Sandusky, Ohio, and graduated when only 15 and immediately commenced teaching, but after teaching two years was married to Mr. Quate. They were the parents of two children, a son and daughter, the son, A. J. [Albert James] Quate, only surviving. He and her grandson, Graham Quate, were with her when she passed away. Her granddaughter Mrs. Jessie Stringham, who resides in Uintah with her husband and little son, was unable to be there.

Mrs. Garrison was a resident of Snake Valley extending over a period of 15 years, and endeared herself to many friends. She taught in a number of different schools in this valley, and the young people will always be grateful to her for the interest taken in them as she worked untiringly to prepare them for future work in school and life.

Mrs. Garrison was a highly accomplished woman, with the ability to fulfill her duty in any station in life that she might be placed, and always ready to help others by word and deed. Requiescat id pace.
