Please understand that the reason for making original records available is because the possibility for errors in abstracts, transcripts, clerk's copies in the will books, and similar second-hand sources is so great. For example, the clerk's copy of the will of William Utley in the will book DOES give the witness's name as Augustus B Turner, but if you look at the actual will - the original at Archives - it's signed Augustus Balthazar Turner. Since William Utley's wife was a Turner, this could be important to Utley researchers as well as Turner researchers. The original will of James McKethan of Cumberland Co, NC names a daughter as Christian. The clerk's copy in the will book names the same daughter as Catherine. This has created a LOT of confusion. The purpose in using original records is to avoid errors like this. Nothing beats original records.
