Hi, This is a new message to a old posting, but I thought it was funny seeing these pronounciations. I am a Ezzell--Put it this way. back to my Greatgrandad we our Ezzells. Great Granbdads 2 brothers and GGGrandad migrated on the wagon train in 1846 to Ga and Al and Miss and they spell it Ezell and say it with a long E. My Dad came from Duplin Co, N.C and said Ezzell with a short E , Like a I to me., but my cousins there sau I say it wrong. Dad cam to Pa in 1924 and I say it like my mother like my Al, Miss, and Ga cousins. I am a dec of Mikel who migrated from Mechlingburg Co Va to Miller Creek, on the Duplin-Sampson Co line in 1784. Forgot there were Uzzells in Wayne Co mainly and I also forgot I had a Index card on the will of Thomas Sr, Spelled Uzzell. George spelled Ezell who was mentioned on site born in 1648 was probably born in England or elsewhere. Why I am saying that is my family from generations back say---Three brothers came to Anerica. Timothy was not in the colonies in 1648 and he did not bring a son on the boat. Was not married in England unless it was a different wife then he had in the colonies. There is some evidence he was in Va and then went back and came back again. But I only find one boat record.with a spelling such as his.and it was spelled Issell. Most familes with these name spellings or the like claim French, but has anyone ever been able to join the Hugenot Society on any of these spellings? or records. I always wondered that?Thelma Ezzell Peters
