I believe that James Tate married Martha Dressler in either Bath County, Virginia or Alleghany County, Virginia but I do not have access to the marriage records for these two counties. Would appreciate help finding their marriage record in Virginia or knowing if there is other evidence proving that they married.
The couple moved from Virginia to Johnson County, Indiana for the 1840 census along with other Dressler siblings of Martha Dressler. She was referred to as Martha Tate in an Alleghany County, Virginia document.
