I have been researching the Charlotte County Clarks and I have not found an Edwin among them however there is an Edwin Clark in Campbell County, VA, the county just west of Charlotte. I have very little detail on him except that he was born about 1813 and married Sarah Hammersley (Hamersley) on August 14, 1839. In the 1850 Census for Campbell County they are shown
with the following children: Virginia L., Martha C., Lucy J., James L. and Caroline V. Clark. Also Sarah's sister Mary is living withe family but her last name was transcribed incorrectly as Hamesty.

I would first look at Campbell County, VA.
