The archives/library of the Clarke Co. Historical Assoc. in Berryville will be closed to the public from 12/2/2008 until 12/1/2009 when the new museum/library space opens. The archivist will be able to do limited research by mail [PO Box 306, Berryville VA 22611], e-mail [archives@visuallink.com] or telephone [540-955-2600].
An update to our online cataloging will be uploaded to our website [www.clarkehistory.org ] by the end of the year.
CCHA has just finished editing the Clarke Co. Birth Records, and is in the process of comparing the Green Hill Cemetery's records against the tombstone listings. So far over 500 no-marker records have been found and will be added to the existing lists. We hope to have them published or online in the near future.
Two new Clarke Co. books are out by Pat Duncan: Clarke Co. Death Register" 1853-1896 & Clarke Co. Marriages: 1836-1886, and are available at Heritage Books.
