Re: Combs family in southern Fauquier

I am researching my maternal family line that includes:
- Lucinda (Lucy) Combs (Ca 1796-1860) married in 1817,
- John Herndon (ca 1796-1882) both living in Stafford
County at the time of their deaths.
Two of their children were Ludwell Herndon, who married Rebecca Lane and Margaret Herndon who married William Wallace Franklin of Stafford.

Circumstantial evidence leads me to believe they may have both been descended from Fauquier families. Lucy's family includes the name "Kendrick", so I'm thinking she may have been a near relative of Kendrick Combs. The name "John Herndon" appears in early and mid 1700's records in the S. Fauquier area. Oral tradtion says these two Herndon families were connected and descended from French Huguenots.

Any help or leads would be gratefully appreciated. Please feel free to post a message here or e-mail me at trblx2@starpower.net . Thanks, Bill
