I have seen the date of this marriage as 1799 - do you know for sure it was 1779?

If it was 1799, then I would say Catherine was the daughter of Col. William Edmonds and Elizabeth Blackwell. The bondsman was William Edmonds - could have been her father or a brother.

Col. William supposedly had a daughter Catherine, born 1781, which would make her age about right if the marriage was in 1799, but not if it really was in 1779.

As to William Hewitt's parents, there was a Susanna Hewitt, widow, mentioned as being of Stafford Co., and selling land to two Blackwell men in 1792. She is supposedly 71 years of age in 1794. Did your people have any ties to Stafford Co.?
