From "Guide to Fauquier" by Eugene Scheel:

At 1.5 mi from Prince William line cross Walnut Branch. Village, church, and P.O. of same name 1814-1849, once stood along old rd 100 ft to N. Enter village of Catlett, named for John Catlett, who took out land grant near here in 1715. P.O. first called Colvin’s Station, 1853, after Colvin Family; changed to Catlett that year.
