The difficulty is in finding an existing copy for that time period. The Library of Virginia has microfilms of some newspapers published in the area during the 1800's, but the issues are very spotty. There are none listed for October 1887. The Mirror, published in Leesburg, Loudoun County, did not mention his death. The Telephone, published in Hamilton, Loudoun County, also did not mentioned his death. Also be aware that obituaries were often just space fillers and contained only one line of information, unless the person was prominent. His death was also not recorded on the county Death Register.
