Referencing a letter dated 6 Ap 1937 from A. D. Hiller Excutive Assistant to the Administrator of the War Dept ?
(No return address)

The Rev. War number I have for my James Lee is R 6250 and according to the records he received a pension from his application of 30 Oct 1818 and he filed again in 1821.
Mr. Hiller states that there is no date or birth of James Lee listed nor the names of his parents. Hiller says that James Lee enlisted in Fauquier Cty. VA 7 June, 1777 and served 3 years in Captain Strother Jones' Company, Colonel Graysons regiment and was discharged in Richmond, VA by Colonel nathaniel Gist. James lost his discharge papers.
He was allowed a pension on his application executed October 30, 1818 at which time he was living in Pulaski Cty, KY and then gave his age as 57 years. He stated in 1821 that he was 67 years old and a tiller of the earth. There is no explanation for the discrepancy in his age. Hiller says. This James Lee married in 1790 or 1791 in Madison Cty Ky, Keziah ( Kezander) Mobley, Mobely, Moberly. She was about 45 years of age in 1821.James Lee died 25 Dec. 1836 in Pulaski KY and his widow, Keziah Lee, died in said Pulaski, 12 Ap, 1844.
Reference was made in 1821 to the follwoing persons the residing in the family of the soldier, James Lee: son Willis Green aged fifteen yrs; John ( my ggg grandfather) twelve yrs, Charles Bethel, aged about seven or eight years, Plly, aged five yrs; Drewry three yrs old and Anna two years old.
William Lee, son of James and Keziah, furthished in 1856 the following list of the names of the children of his parents:
William born March 17, 1792
Lewis 1794
Elizabeth July 11, 1796
Willis 1799
Benjamin 1804
John 15 June 1806
Charles B. 26 March 1808
James B. 12 March 1810
Mary 1812
Drury 14 June 1814
Anna 1816
Reference was made in 1856 to the following children as deceased: Lewis Lee, Willis Lee, Benjamin Lee and James B. lee; and is was stated then that Elizabeth was married to Daniel Smith, that Mary (Polly) was married to John Godby or Gadby, and that Anna Lee was married to Gabriel Godby or Gadby. William Lee, John Lee, and Drury or Drewry Lee were of Boone Cty Indiana in 1856. William Lee stated that he at one time lived with his mother's brother, John Mobeley. A. D. Hiller dated Ap 6, 1937

The Living Lee male in Boone Cty IN and the relative of mine is in the clan of Oisin or haplogroup Rlb etc..of Carrickfergus, Ireland... all of this is in the Lee Famiy project on line. We are not related to the Lees of Virginia although the Robert E. Lee family myth came down through the generations to us.

I wish I could find a document with James Lees parents listed and his place of birth but so far no luck for me. If any one has any info, I would be most grateful. Liz
