Will of JAMES CHILDS In the name of God Amen I JAMES CHILDS of the County of Culpeper and state of Virginia, do make, ordain and constitute this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me heretofore made, in manner and form as follows: Imprimis: I give and confirm to my son WILLIAM one negro man slave named George, the same being already in his possession to him and his heirs forever. CHILDS one negro woman slave named Sylvia, together with her prior and future increase to him and his heirs forever the same being already in his possession. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my daughter MARY BEASLEY one negro man slave Clem, and one negro woman slave named Fanny, together with the prior and future increase of the negro woman Fanny to him and his heirs forever the same being already in her possession -- I also confirm to my son WESELY CHILDS one negro woman slave named Susan which said negro woman he bought of CHARLES JONES and said slave removed from a negro woman slave which I shall in the next devise give to my daughter ANN JONES -- to him and his heirs forever the same being already in his possession. ITEM: I confirm to my daughter ANN JONES the following negro woman slave with her prior and future increase (except the woman Susan previously confirmed to my son JAMES W. CHILDS named Milly, the same being already in her possession to remain in her possession for and during her natural life, together with what she may be entitled to as one of my devisees and at her death to go to whomsoever she may devise it to by way of her last will and Testament, but in the event of her making no will, then to revert back to my other children and their heirs and I wish my friend JAMES RICHARDS to see to the protection of the property hereby devised to my said daughter ANN JONES And Lastly, I desire that after the payment of my just debts which are but few, and the payment of my funeral expenses, that all and every part of my property both eal and personal, together with any money or debts that may be due me be equally divided share and share alike between all my children or their heirs, and that there may be no disputation amongst my children, my executor is hereby directed to sell all and every part of my property both real and personally, and divide the proceeds according to this my will and Testament and as a further explanation of this my will and Testament all the devises heretofore made by naming my children is made to prevent bringing the negroes they have had in their possession into hotch hotch (??exact same word written twice) and to confirm to them the said negroes, and their heirs and future as they now stand. And in conclusion I appoint my son FRANCIS A. CHILD executor to this my last will and Testament. CHILDS the executor there in named, certificate is granted to him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form he having made oath thereto, and entered into bond with security according to law.
