Hi, Janelle. I'm descended from James Gray's son, Charles and am thus engaged in the same frustrating search. For what it's worth, I saved a reference to John K. Gott's "book on marriages," to wit: "Gray, Jesse & Rody Browne, Mar 23, 1818, d/o Thaddeus." I think this was your post on genealogy.com. Through Ancestry.com, I found slave schedules for a slave owner, Thaddeus Browne in upper Hanover and Henrico Counties. Also a census record (1820, I think) that showed him in Henrico with a fairly large family including other teenaged daughters and seven slaves. Could he have been a relation of the Fauquier Browns? That would explain what Rhoda and Jesse were doing in Fauquier.
