Loftis families of early Halifax Co.

My ancestor William Loftis, born ca 1799 in Virginia, died 1879 in Elbert Co., GA, married 1824 in Elbert Co., GA to Catharine King, born 1800 in Maryland, died 1894 in Madison Co., GA. Their children were: Sarah Ann, Mary Adaline, Amanda Catharine and William Francis Loftis. Could my William Loftis be a son of some of the Loftis families who resided in Halifax Co. prior to 1800?
