Carolee: I am also a descendant of a Halifax Co. Owen, but no idea wich one - yet! I've been totally frustrated trying to figure out who the parents of my Sarah Wimbish Owen (bor November 1820 in VA - according to one of her daughters, Sarah was born ib Halifax County)
I THINK she may be related to the Josiah Owen who married Ritter Bryant in Halifax Co. before moving to mmddle TN. But haven't been able to sort out all the children of Josiah & Ritter yet... He was the son of Joseph Owen/Phoebe (Staples?) who were in Halifax... several of their children ended up living near to Josiah in TN
On your maps, are any of the Owen families shown owning propery near Wimbish land? So far I've not located any marriage records for an Owen to a Wimbish to account for that middle name.
