I'm researching my ancestor, James Griswood whose family showed up in South Carolina in 1820. His father may have been John Griswood (Griswold could also be a variation) who was found in SC in 1800. I've found references to Griswoods being in Isle of Wight County in the late 1600s, but have yet to make a connection. If anyone out there has a Griswood (any spelling variation is considered) located through any documents, wills, however slight, I would love to hear from you. At this point, Virginia seems to be my only clue as to where this family came from.
