Can anyone help? Some of the old names for drainage features in Isle of Wight County have changed through the years, and I am having difficulty in locating SEWARD'S SWAMP (not Seward's Creek apparently, a different feature near Pagan Creek and James River), MARTIN'S BRANCH and QUARTER BRANCH, features mentioned in a land deed between Simon Haile and Joseph Moody in 1800. By all rights based on other evidence, the land should have been in among the tributaries of Blackwater River someplace say between Zuni and Windsor, perhaps around Corrowaugh Swamp. I have poured over the available USGS topographic maps for these features but without success, and the 1864 map by Captain Campbell of the south side of James River doesn't seem to show them either. Thanks to anyone for assistance, referrals, and suggestions in helping locate these streams so-named ca 1800 in Isle of Wight County.
