Hi April, To directly answer your question.... I show my William and Elizabeth as being married in Isle of Wight County on 26 Dec 1795. It is my belief, based on my research to date, that three of the Allmond/Toler children were Reuben H, James, and William Jr. There may well have been more that I have not connected. I have them all being born in the area around the Charlotte/Campbell County area in central Virginia in the late 1790s and early 1800s. Now, my records include the Thomas of which you speak. It is my supposition that he was actually born in Charlotte County, but quite near the Charlotte/Lunenburg line, from what I cal tell from contemporary correspondence. I think it is fairly safe to say that he was the son of either Elisha or Hezekiah, sons of an earlier William (Allman, in this case) and Elizabeth who lived in Newport Parish, Isle of Wight, in the 1760s. Elisha and Hezekiah appear to have left Isle of Wight when their mother "absconded" to newly-formed Charlotte County in the late 1760s (newly formed out of Lunenburg County, that is). Based on my tracking, Thomas was almost certainly born to one of that earlier Elizabeth's sons in 1777. From there, you already know that Thomas married Elizabeth Wood in 1802, the date was actually 2 March, according ot my records. A fairly famous Rev. Edward Almond conducted the wedding ceremony. It is not clear to me whetehr Edward was Thomas' brother or cousin. Since you are aware of the 1809 land transaction, you are probably aware that the sale was to Edward Lee and that Thomas and Elizabeth Wood Almond proceeded to move on to somewhere in Tennessee after that. I hope this helps... and I will look forward to corresponding more as we each unearth new tid-bits from our mutual past. Notify Administrator about this message?
