I am researching a branch of the Harris family (with Leon Harris and Pat Seaver) and having trouble identifying the parents of a man (Josiah/Joseph Harris) and a woman (Martha "Patsy" Harris) who married Nancy Morefield (1826) and Allen Morefield (1825) respectively in Patrick Co, VA. Both marriages were performed by Bird Lowe. William and Rebecca (Stevens) Morefield were parents of Allen and Nancy Morefields.
We suspect that the two Harrises were related, but can't confirm. One clue we have is that an Elijah Harris was surety for marriage of Allen and Martha. Was Elijah Martha's father? Was he also Josiah's father? Related in some other way? Was this Elijah married to Nancy Lee? Was this Elijah son of William Harris (of Russell Creek)? (there was more than one Elijah in Patrick Co at that time)
Was the wife of William Harris (probably 2nd wife) whom we have seen listed as Clary in Patrick Co records the same woman as the Chary Hudson Harris you listed as one of the Mecklenburg marriages in 1802? Do you have a list of other, earlier Harris marriages in Mecklenburg?
