I thought it might be useful to share this information. I've recently started using the book search option on google. They have lots of books that have either been partially digitized, or completely digitized so that you can read them online. They are also searchable, in that if you were searching for your surname, it would highlight it in the text. I've found it an extremely handy tool. If you have a gmail account, you can add the book to your library for later searching, as well. Here is the book I mentioned in the subject title: http://books.google.com/books?id=fTjaYq2U9HoC&printsec=frontcover&sig=g7pSeYDJG3AvsT11mtmBOyUVDG8#PPP5,M1 (sorry it scrolls to the left like that, I'm not sure you can put links in forum msgs, if so, I'll do that later..) I found it by googling in the book section "mecklenburg county". Here's a quick link to google book search: http://books.google.com/ Anyway, it takes you to the front cover. You can browse the book, or if you look over to the right, you can enter in text (a surname) and it will search the book for you, providing a click link to take you directly to the page. This particular book is only partially digitized, so there are going to be some pages missing. There is also a tool to the right that will allow you to see where it may be for sale or even better, if it' in one of your local libraries. (handy link) http://worldcatlibraries.org/wcpa/isbn/0806346396 You would enter in your location, though for me, it seems to know I'm in Tampa. You don't have to have a gmail email account, but it comes in handy to save the information. The gmail account is free, and hey, you don't have to use it if you don't want to. Just thought I'd share.
