Hi,

I am looking for a direct line male descendant of Willis STROUD, born 1766-1771 in VA, who died in 1807 in Mecklenburg Co., VA that would be willing to DNA test. Willis STROUD has proved sons Ransom/Ramson (many spellings) STROUD born about 1798 in VA, Richard J. STROUD, and Jesse STROUD. Likely sons are Joseph STROUD and Morris STROUD.

Ransom was in 1820 Mecklenburg Co., VA, 1830 Brunswick Co., VA, and 1840 and 1850 Granville Co., NC. Richard STROUD died in 1852 in Hickman Co., KY. Jesse STROUD was in Henry Co., TN in 1830. Joseph STROUD was also in 1830 Henry Co., TN and moved to Hickman Co., KY. Morris STROUD (born 1790-1800) died in 1844 in Henry Co., TN.

I am also looking for a descendant of George STROUD that would be willing to DNA test. George was born about 1778 in Mecklenburg Co. VA. In the 1850 census he was in Franklin Co., NC, but in a deed later in the year he was listed as of Granville County again. I believe that Willis STROUD (b. ca. 1800), John STROUD (b. ca. 1800), Richardson STROUD (b. ca. 1810) of Granville County, and William C. STROUD (b. ca. 1820) of Franklin Co., NC are all likely sons.

My ancestor Archibald STROUD was born about 1782 in Mecklenburg Co., VA, and a brother to George STROUD. DNA tests show that Archibald STROUD matches that of the BURTON family. His mother was named Lucinda, believed to be the daughter Lucy STROUD named in John STROUD's 1776 Mecklenburg Co., VA will. Lucinda later married Josiah PACE [PIERCE] and then Tobias STALCUP. Additional information on all this is at:
http://home.netcom.com/~fzsaund/stroud.html

By testing descendants of Willis it is hoped to show:
1. That the BURTON DNA entered my Archibald STROUD line with Willis's sister Lucinda having a child with a BURTON.
2. Learn the DNA of the STROUD line, and if they match other STROUDs.

By testing descendants of George it is hoped to learn:
1. Was his father also a BURTON?
