John Matthews appears in the land tax records of Mecklenburg in 1797 with 263 acres. Has anyone seen a deed where he got this land? I think he was the son of John and Lucretia Matthews of Brunswick. I would like to know the names of his children. John had brothers Matthew, Luke and Samuel.
The will index for Mecklenburg posted online states that there is an acct of sales for John Matthews estate dated 1829. This gives heirs as Elizabeth, John, Nancy, Samuel. I would like to know what this document says. Who was administrator? Are these persons named listed as heirs or just purchasers at the sale?
