She is supposed to be the daughter of Charles CLAY and Mary Unknown. Charles died 1783 Mecklenburg Co which was cited in Book 5:291. Delphia may have married 1777 in Mecklenburg a William CLEATON although I do not locate a record in the Mecklenburg Marriages 1765-1810. I do locate in Mecklenburg Order Book 5 pg. 421 a record where a "Delphy, widow of Poythresse Cleaton, married _____ Whitlow Sept 5, 1783". Delphia may have died 1816 in Mecklenburg-would appreciate direction of where to locate this info. Another mystery is that Delphia may have had a child before marrying CLEATON whom she named TOLBERT CLAY 1772/1773 probably in Mecklenburg Co. Tolbert CLAY married Nancy Harris in 1805 Mecklenburg. Any info regarding DELPHIA and TOLBERT CLAY or CLEATON will be most appreciated.
