Need County name Info

My great,great grandfather, Joseph Adam Young was born April 27,1850 in what is now Braxton Co.,WV. I haven't been able to find any info on him or his parents C.H. and Agnes Young. Does anyone know what Braxton Co. would have been in 1850 VA?. I have combed WV records and find nothing. His death certificate and marriage record list Sutton, Braxton Co. as place of birth.
