I am a descendant of Jorial/Jorile Barnett of Cherokee Co NC (then TN, IL, TX -- died after 1880 in Hill Co TX). His daughter Clarinda is the grandmother of my grandmother Alpharetta Mae Green in Oklahoma.
I have found that the name Royall in the Barnett family line comes from a family name Royall (usually spelled with two Ls) in Virignia. The Royalls were a prominent old family, intermarried with many other established families there.
Many individuals in many other family lineages that married into the Royall have the middle name Royall or phonetic variations of it. The Barnett lineage is one of those famlies that have the repeated use of Joroyal and variations of it.
The oldest Barnett descendant that I have found to have the name Royall as a middle name is Joseph Royall Barnett, mentioned in this discussion thread. He was also referred to as Joroyall, a nickname short form of Joseph Royall.
Various sons and their descendants have children named with variations of this name: Joroyal, Joroyall, Joe Royall, Jorial, Jorile, etc. The pronunciation variations in English dialects can account for the phonetic simiplification of Joe Royall or Joroyall into the pronunciation represented by the spellings Jorile and Jorial, both of which represent the same pronunciation.
Our family usies the spelling Jorile, which was the mniddle name of my great-grandfather (Clarinda Barnett Green's son) Toliver Jorile Green, Born in Hill Co TX. The Spartanburg-Alabama-CherokeeTX line seems to prefer the spelling Jorial, but I find individuals in that line also referred to by the spelilng Jorile.

Sources in the Virgina-Spartanburg line do not report all the descendants in each descendant line. There are an uncanny number of similarities with our line, so I expect to find a connection to that same Joseph Royall b 1731, son of Joseph Barnett and Lucy Wade.
I hoe to follow up on some clues from Cherokee Co NC Barnetts in making the connection to he previous generation of Barnetts descended from Joseph Royall in Virginia.
