My great aunt, Caroline Stekl 1874-1907, was the first wife of John Walker, b 2-2-1862 Bohemia, and d 9-10-1944 in Vernon County, WI. Walker does not sound like a Bohemian name. John's parents were John Walker, b May 1830 Bohemia, and Mary, b. June 1840 Bohemia, according to the 1900 census. I THINK the elder John and his wife are in a cemetery west of Hillsboro, recorded as WACHA, John 1825-1924 and Mary, 1840-1913.
Have you encountered "Walker" as a phonetic equivalent of Wacha (or Vacha), especially by English-speaking non-Bohemian neighbors.
