With regard to your request for further information on Gaetano Vadala - he was my grandfather; a professor of music who introduced the mandolin to Australia. He married a Miss Frederick and they produced two daughters - Flavia (my mother) and Norma. After divorcing he moved to New Zealand. As a music teacher, he taught Nellie Mitchell (Melba), forsaw her potential and organised her study in Europe.
I Would be interested in any other information you might have.
