George Verboncoeur, 1857 MN or IL

George Verboncoeur was the son of Pierre Prudent Vadeboncoeur and Adelaide Desjarlais. He was born 2 Feb 1857. His death certificate says in Kankakee, IL. The 1860 Census ( for Dayton, MN )indicates he was born in MN.

I have not been able to locate any birth record in Kankakee. Does anyone have any information on George, or suggestions on how to locate IL birth record?
