The American Vaiden and Vaden families that originated in Virginia trace their ancestry to a group using the spelling Vodin. They arrived in 1662, probably from one of the Channel Islands and were likely French protestant refugees originally.
Those in New Kent and Charles City Counties became Vaiden, in Henrico Vaden, elsewhere a bit of each. Spelling in the first hundred years varied. There were later immigrants.
I am Vaiden descendant, linked to Vaiden mississippi.
