Here is a possible/probable:

“Michel” Vadnais - b.ca.1801 probably at St. Cuthbert (son of Pierre & Genevieve Durand)
married Marguerite Robillard dit Lambert (dau. of Andre & Pelagie Dubois) 20 Sep 1831 at St-Cuthbert. Among their children was a Thomas b. ca. 1842 no doubt at St.Cuthbert.

“Michel” no doubt is your Charles, however, the only way I know of to prove this is to write to St-Cuthbert and get his full baptismal name. I would like to know what you find out, and I have all the ancestors of Michel & a lot of descendants of Joseph Thomas.
