Recently did a road trip around Industry and found this
old Vail Cemetery. Much is too old to read and some of
the oldest stones are being held up by metal fenceposts
and wired around the stones. The sign at the road reads
Vail Cemetery 1872.
Here is the info from the stones that I could read:
Benjamin Vail Born April 12, 1813 Died Jan 7, 1899
Christopher Vail 1888 - 1916
Eliza J Wife of Christopher Vail aged 29yrs-rest illegible
John B Vail Born Dec 18, 1811 Died Mar 28, 1898
Blessed are the pure of heart for they shall see God.
new replacement stone
Nancy Vail Sep 2 1836 - Jun 11 1907 At Rest
Sarah S Vail 1843 - 1928
(this is Christopher's wife Saraphene)
Sophia Brown wife of J B Vail
born May 22, 1807 died Oct 30, 1886
Blessed are the dead (illegible)in the Lord
I have pictures of these particular stones and also
of the cemetery itself. Email me if you would like copies.
I am descended from the Hendricksons and Brandons who
married into the Vail family.
