Thanks for answering my post. I would appreciate any information that you might have. I knew that some of the Vailes ended up in Humboldt, TN...I have some records showing that and was hoping that one day I would hear from someone in that area. I think, without having my records in front of me, that it was John William Vailes line that ended up there. That would be my great grandfather Alonzo Vailes' brother. My mother is the former Betty Jo Vailes (her name is Lewis now). Her father was Henry Monore Vailes and his father was Alonzo Vailes. My grandfather's cousin Andy Vailes wife Janie still living in Laverne, TN forwarded through another Vailes researcher all the research that she had done on the family. So anyway, I would love to know what information you have....maybe we can do some exchanging. One note to keep in mind is that my grandfather told my brother years ago and I have also heard the story from other Vailes relatives, that either Alonzo or his father William Henry H. Vailes was born to a Galloway family, ran away when he was young and ended up living with a Vailes family and took their name. Have you heard any such story?
