PIERRE VAILLANT/PETER VALIER IN L'ASSOMPTION CA 1812

I am looking for the parents of my GGGranfather, Peter VALIER who lived in Richmond Twp. Lennox and Addington
County, Ontario and was married to Elizabeth LASHER in 1842 in Bath, Ernestown Twp. I have had several pieces of information that lead me to believe that Peter's "original" name was PIERRE VAILLANT and that he was possibly born in L'Assomption, Quebec ca 1812. I know that there was a PIERRE VAILLANT born to Pierre VAILLANT and Marguerite LaBELLE in 1811 who died age 3 days. There is also a record in L'Assomption Parish Records of another PIERRE VAILLANT, born to the same parents on 31 July 1812, though the mother's name was given as her maiden name - Marguerite BLANCHET. Does anyone have any idea what happened to this "PIERRE #2" or have any ideas or suggestions for tracing this person? This could very well be the PIERRE/PETER I am looking for! Any help or ideas would be most gratefiully accepted! Thank you! Nan
