ELIZABETH VALLANDIGHAM d/o GEORGE V
Just ran across posting by Dick Vallandingham (9/7/2004)on the Vanlandingham forum with excerpt by Dr. Edward Noble Vallandingham which mentions Milton McClelland, grandson of Col. George V, citing that Milton's mother was Elizabeth Vallandingham. I'm curious about two things in particular: was Elizabeth's husband William McClelland AND was William's father Alexander McClelland (and Nancy McAlister) of Fayette Twp., Allegheny County, PA? If so, Elizabeth's in laws would have included John and Margaret McClelland Lewis, William and Nancy McClelland Armor, John and Nancy McClelland, and James and Nancy McClelland. Someone once wrote that Elizabeth had a "McClelland Bible", but can't find where. Would appreciate being able to link my McClellands to the Vallandinghams.
As an aside - George Vallandingham along with Gabriel Cox and Andrew Swearingen "hired" my 3rd great grandad, Thomas Bay, to raise some rangers to help out in 1780; took a while to get him paid. Have a copy of petition to PA General Assembly including George's signature.
