Hello Leroy,
I was going to try and write to you this week.Nancy Clark referred me to you and gave me your e-mail address.
I don't think this is the same family but I'm not sure.I don't know Michael Fornier's wife's name.I discovered his name on my gg grandmother's death certificate.Elizabeth was born on October 24, 1826 in QC (?, but definitely French Canadian) and died on November 1, 1916 in Detroit, Michigan. Her husband, Joseph Valliere, was born around 1841 in QC (?, again definitely French Canadian) and died September 25, 1915.I believe they had two children before leaving Canada:Celeste Marie and Alvina. They also had a son, Joseph, as he was the informant named on the death certificate, but I don't know if he was born in the US or Canada.
I am currently searching the US census records from 1870 onwards. So far I've had no luck locating them. According to my g grandmother, they arrived in Detroit at a French settlement near St. Ann's Church.
Thank you for responding to my previous posting.I hope this gives you enough information to help me.
Judy
