Janice, are you still out there?I have found a woman who says she knows Margaret's parents and it seems to fit with my information.I believe Margaret (b.1814) was the sister of Ambrose (b.1820) and Prime (b.1816) and James (b.1822) Vanderbeck, who also lived in Berrien County, Michigan in time for the 1850 federal census.Their mother, Jane Vanderbeck, lived with the Maynard family in 1850.Jane and her son-in-law, Samuel Maynard, were also among the founders of the Congregational Church of St. Joseph, MI.Carolyn Drown Shiling, descendant of Prime Vanderbeck, indicates that Jane's mailden name was VANDERWATER. Jane (b.1791) was married to REUBEN VANDERBECK (b.1790), who died in 1826. Does anyone know anything more about Reuben?Jane & Reuben were both said to be born in New Jersey, and some of their children were born there also.Their son,James, may have been born in New York, but the others report on census records that they were born in New Jersey.I don't know where Reuben died, but Jane probably died in Michigan between 1854 and 1860.There is also reported to be a daughter, Sarah, born about 1827 (after her father's death?). Anyone else related to this family???
