Hi Ron,
Was wondering how much information that you have on the John D. mentioned in your post.Could he be my John D who I have been looking for for over 30 years.I had an idea that our Cooks migrated to NY and back to NJ but could not find any information.
Below I have posted a truncated portion of a post of mine.
My Great Great Grandfather John D. Cook (b 27 Aug 1815 d 25 Feb 1906) buried Mathews / Cook homestead in Echo Lake NJ Married Ann M. (Peer?) could be Maria Ann or Ann Mary. (b 1813-1820 d 30 May 1893)
Dau - Ellen A (b 1836)
Dau - Rebecca (b 1841)
Son - Wilson (Above)
Son - Jerome W (b 1845)
Son - Silich (b 1849)
All of the above is pretty much confirmed. I have good information that John D Cook was the son of David Cook and Jemima Wiggons of Morris County NJ who is also connected to John Cook / Vander Koeke of Rockaway NJ but no concrete proof. I do have the death certificate for John D. Cook that lists his parents as David Cook and Betsy Cook. David Cook who was married to Jemima Wiggins he died in 1860 Jemima in 1851. Per Census record David lived with his daughter Elizabeth (or she with him). I figure that when John D died all anyone remembered was that David and Betsy were his parents or else David remarried in his 70’s. Which is doubtfull. I found information linking David to John Vanderkoek and if I can confirm this besides hearing it from several other families in the area I can go back to Hendrick Vander Cook and then further.
Thanks,
Tom
