The Mysterious Stephen Vandercook
I have been working with the Vandercook family for about 25 years now and have never found a deader dead end than this one! The Stephen Vandercook I am trying to connect was born in either 1815 (1860 USC) or 1820 (1870 USC) in the State of New York. His first wife was Lucinda, his second was Elizabeth.Stephen and Lucinda had at least three children: Winslow Vandercook (c1844-?), Rectanna Vandercook (1845-1863) and Willis Vandercook (c1852-?), all born in NY. Stephen, Lucinda, Elizabeth, Rectanna and what appears to be a son's wife lie buried in the West Monroe Cemetery, West Monroe, Oswego Co., NY. The 1860 and 1870 USCs have the family residing in the Town of Constantia, Oswego Co., NY. Stephen was a farmer. His son Winslow served in the Civil War as a Private in Co. K, 81st NY Infantry. Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated!
