VONDERHOFEN, VANDERHOOVEN, VANDERHOOF
Garrett Vonderhofen born in Holland married my GGG Grandmother Permelia Main 12-13-1860 in Spencer County Indiana. There is a Civil War military marker placed in the Dale Cemetery at Dale, Spencer County Indiana which has his name listed as Garrett Vanderhooven Company "F" Indiana Infantry. There is no tombstone and I do not actually think there is a grave there and believe he may have been killed in the War and buried somewhere else. He does not show up on the 1870 Indiana census and my GGG GrandmotherPermelia Main Vanderhoof is remarried by 1878.
My GG Grandmother Magadelene used the name spelled as Vanderhoof.
It is really hard to track down your family when they keep changing the spelling on me.
Possible brother to my Garrett is Cornelius Vanderhooven (54 years old) Born in Holland and wife Magadelina (56 years old) who show up on the 1870 Spencer County Indiana census along with their son Garrett Vanderhooven (19 years old)
If any of these names sound familiar to anyone please contact me either direct via e-mail or respond to this message board.
I would be grateful for any information no matter how small. Been unable to find anything on him for so long I am desperate.
