My great great grandfather was Isaac Van Houten and he lived and died in Berlin, Wi. He was descended from John Van Houten and Elizabeth Cubberly whom I have traced to NJ-- so he must have been brother? to your great uncle Wm.Van Houten.John Van Houten and Elizabeth Cubberly lived in Somerville, NJ sometime in the 1800's and there is a house still standing in Somerville, NJ said to have been the house of the Cubberlys during the 1800's. They may have been renters. This is called The Wallace House and it was where George Washington spent a winter before Valley Forge.I believe one Cubberly is buried in the Old Dutch Cemetery on S. Bridge Road, Somerville, NJ. I have been searching the records to find out what happened to John Van Houten and Elizabeth Cubberly from 1830's when they left NJ to go to Wisconsin. As you have found, Wm. Van Houten served in the WI Infantry Civil War.I would like to know which census John and Elizabeth Cubberly were listed in, in WI.Isaac Van Houten lived in Berlin,WI and he is my great great grandfather, my mother's great grandfather. Her grandfather was Thomas Van Houten who married Ida Crummet and lived all their lives in Berlin WI. My mother's mother, Hattie Van Houten Stater was one of two girls born to Thomas and Ida.The other was Lucille. My mother, Bonnie Van Houten, was the only descendant of Hattie Van Houten Stater.Looking for the burial sites of John Van Houten and Elizabeth Cubberly. Please also include the information on the daughters of the children of Wm. Van Houten and Mary Stanton ie Foss
