Charles or Chester Vanluven in 1861 Ernestown
1861 Ernestown has:
Charles or Chester? Vanluven age 40 born Upper Canada
Margaret his wife age 28 years
James age 15
Leonard age 9
Manchester age 4
Elizabeth age 7
Rosy age 2
Margaret's maiden name was apparently WOOD- whose daughter was she?
She could not be the mother of James, therefore I assume Charles/Chester had been previously married- to whom?
I think 4 year old Manchester Vanluven is the same man in 1901 Uxbridge, dob is May 1 1858, wife is Mary J.- was she nee Dugan or Duggan? Ten children born between 1880 and 1901.
There is a death at Uxbridge, Ontario for a Chester Vanluven age 87 years and 10 months on May 1 1907. I assume this is same Chester from 1861 Ernestown.
JCC diaries refers to daughters being born to Mrs. Chester Vanluven, one on Jan. 20, 1860, another on April 17, 1861, but does not give their names.
Any help identifying parents would be a great help. I have just put together 80 pages of Vanluven information as a working file for anyone who wants it and would appreciate additions or corrections to my families.
I also have no idea who Leonard Vanluven was- whose son?; he was born about 1818 and married Laura Hagedorn at Ernestown on May 22, 1841 and had at least: Schuyler W. born about 1843, Hannah J. 1846, and Emma E. 1849. JCC diaries states he lost these children:
Aug 11, 1847, does not specify a son or daughter
March 20 1852, lost his oldest daughter age 4 and a half to scarlet fever
March 28, 1856, lost his youngest child, a son, this was the sixth child he had lost
Sept. 25, 1856, lost a son who was 4 years and 8 months old
Dec. 7, 1859, lost his youngest child
Three references to Mrs. Leonard Vanluven giving birth to daughters:Sept. 5, 1847; Feb. 4, 1850; April 9, 1858 at Bath.
JCC diaries also refers to a Miss Adeline Vanluven, daughter of H. (Henry?) who married a John Wakefield on Nov. 7, 1849. What happened to them and who were Adeline's parents?
I am not related but started piecing together families when I saw a query regarding Alpheus Vanluven and an old letter which he wrote. I generally work on Frontenac County and Lennox and Addington County families.
