To the heirs at law of Bartholomew Van Valkenburgh late of the town of Sennett, Cayuga Co., dec'd
You will take notice that I shall apply to the surrogate of the County of Cayuga at his office in Auburn in said county on the 24 Oct next at 10:00 in the forenoon of that day to take the proof of the last will & testament of the said Bartholomew J. Van Valkenburgh dec'd as a will of real estate in pursuant of the statute in such case made & provided.

We admit service of a copy of this notice upon each of us this 1st day of October.

The Petition of Catherine Van Valkenburgh of the town of Sennett, Cayuga Co., respectfully represents that Bartholomew J. Van Valkenburgh... departed this life on the fourth of August last... that he left at the time of his death the following next of kin and heirs at law to wit, your petitioner his widow, and Caroline Van Slyck of the town of Kinderhook, Columbia Co.; Elizabeth the wife of John J. Pruyn of the same place; Bata, the wife of William Beardsley of the town of Ewing, Erie Co.; Jane Van Valkenburgh of the said town of Sennett; Jacob Van Valkenburgh of the town of Prattsburgh, Steuben Co.; Hermin P. Van Valkenburgh of the town of Seneca Falls, Seneca Co.; Bartholomew Van Valkenburgh of the town of Sempromis, Cayuga Co.; Francis Van Valkenburgh of the said town of Sennett; Catherine Maria Van Valkenburgh of the same place; Lydia C. the wife of Edward R. Porter of Prattsburgh aforesaid, & William M. Van Valkenburgh of the same place, his children & heirs at law who are all of the age of twenty-one and upwards...

In the name of God, Amen.I, Bar. J. Van Valkenburgh, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, and being of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed by Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following:
First, It is my will that all my honest debts be paid out of my personal estate.
Secondly, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Catherine all my freehold and personal estate, during her widowhood.And further it is my will that after her death or remarriage all my real and personal estate, I give and bequeath unto my eleven children, to be equally divided between them, namely, my five sons, viz't Jacob, Hermin P., Bartley, Francis, & William M., and six daughters, viz, Caroline, Elizabeth, Bata, Jane, Catherina M., and Ledia C., to be as beforesaid equally divided between them.
And lastly, I do hereby appoint my beloved wife Catherine Executrix and my son Hermin P. Executor of this my last Will and Testament...22 May 1827...
