Edna,
This is not my direct line but somehow these Spells and Vardamans connected to my COLE family and many of them moved to Scottsville, Harrison Co., TX.According to MS Masonic Lodge notes, Aaron Spell died in 1852 in Holmes Co., MS.Other notes given me by a cousin who is now deceased state that Margaret Anna Spell, b. c. 1831 in MS. (aka?) Ann Spell Cole, m. in Harrison Co., TX 2 Sep 1847 or 9 Feb 1847.It is believed that David H. Cole and Dr. Smauel H. Cole were brothers.David H. Coleis buried in Scottsvile Cemetery in Harrison Co., TX.She noted D. H. Cole in 1860 Census b.c. 1821 in MS and wife M.E. 22 b.MS with children Mary C. 5 or 8 yrs. and Malvina 1--both born in TX.
Dr. Samuel H. Cole m. Harrison Co., TX 28 June 1853 Martha E. Scott.
Also note Aaron Spell who m. Jemima Vardaman had a dau, Ann Spell b.1822, d. 1876 and m. Wiliam L. King. Many of these notes are very hard to read but you will find some connections early in the Madison Co., MS records.A Thomas Spell was in Madison Co., MS on the 1830 Census. In 1841 there was a bill of sale from Tabitha Scott to Thomas Spell in Harrison Co., MS.
I sure would like to figure out how these people related to my Jesse Cole in Yazoo Co., MS and I am still on the Cole search. Scott, Cole, Vardaman, Spell, Austin, and even Dear seem to have some kind of ties from these notes.
Check USGenWeb MS and Madison Co. to see what you find for your lines.
