I recenently have been investigating the army life of mmy uncle charles james bryan in WW1. He served in Gallipoli, Egypt and Sinai and then for the last two years on the Wester Front, altogether from 1914 to 1918 as an infantry officer. I found in his papers that I got from my mother four paintings by F Varley ( quite small). I only looked at them carefully recently and put his name into google and found your forum. Is it possible their paths crossed during WW1?
He was subaltern in the 7th Manchesters (a TA regiment)
