Vaus/Voss of Talbot County, MD
On 29 Aug 1698, Robert Voss appraised the estate of Mortough Horney of Talbot. The land records of Talbot show that on 16 Aug 1703, Thomas Smithson, Gent. leased land to Robert Vaus and his wife Sarah for the life of Robert and that of the eldest son to survive him. Vaus seems to have died not long after as an inventory of the estate of Robert Voss of Talbot was proved on 20 Sep 1709. On 1 Sep 1716, Sarah Voss is shown as a creditor to the Talbot estate of Joseph Rogers. On 13 Sep 1716, Sarah was listed as a creditor to the estate of Col. Thomas Smithson (likely the man who leased land to Robert and Sarah Vaus). On 15 may 1718, Thomas Voss of was an executor of the estate of Anthony Wise of Talbot. There is a prerogative court proceeding of 1764 on the estate of James Voss of Talbot that lists next of kin as Sarah Voss and Martha Voss. Any information on these Vaus/Voss family members would be appreciated.
