Unfortunately,Little Berry (L.B., Littleberry) Vasser [1812-1866] was neither a Cherokee nor from North Carolina. He was born in Beaufort District S.C. and moved to Dallas Co. AL in the 1820s with his parents, Lemuel and Famariah Vasser. Lemuel Vasser (d. 1828) purportedly came from North Carolina, but there is no indication of any Native American blood. Most of these Vassers originally came Virginia and are probably the descendants of French Hueguenot immigrants.
Emma Eliza (James)[1819-1862] was L.B.'s second wife. She was a widow from South Carolina--her maiden name is unknown. Flora Aurelia Vasser was the only surviving child of this union.
Both L.B. and Emma Eliza are buried in the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church cemetery in Pleasant Hill, AL
